A society active for qualitative and quantitative analysisof cellular function and morphology in research and biological as well as clinical application

The DGfZ
The DGfZ is an interdisciplinary scientific community. It was founded in 1990 and has around 300 members recently. Within the DGfZ research and technical personnel from all areas of natural sciences, life sciences and medicine are represented.

The incentive of the DGfZ
The DGfZ offers an organizational structure to the expanding science of Cytometry. The focus of content of DGfZ activities is the analysis of genetic, physiological and structural processes in cells. Aim of the DGfZ is the promotion of methodological and technical innovation in flow cytometry (FCM) slide based cytometry (SBC) and image cytometry (ICM) which furthers understanding of the cell and its integration into multi-cellular systems. The spectrum reaches from Oncology, Immunology and Pathology to Cytogenetics, Microbiology and Plant culture as well as Ecology and includes all areas within which the cell is the center of attention.

DGfZ activities
The DGfZ promotes exchange of experience by an annual conference and also by supporting Workshops and practice oriented courses dealing with topics of Cytometry. Multi-center studies are organized for quality insurance of cytometric methods. The DGfZ cooperates with other European sister societies and international life sciences and technology societies and offers the possibility of interdisciplinary and transregional cooperation. Members are informed by a regularly updated WEB-page and an annually updated membership booklet.
A special concern of the DGfZ is the support of young scientists.
The Klaus-Goerttler-award for excellent scientific work of young scientests as well as travel grants for international conferences are regularely announced.
