Dear colleagues and friends,
In 2000 the foundation was laid for a scientific platform of interdisciplinary character: For the very first time the thematically related societies DGHM, the German Society for Hygiene and Microbiology, and VAAM, the Association for General and Applied Microbiology, came together on common ground in Munich to discuss on âHealth, Ecology and Biotechnologyâ. The common roots of general microbiology, hygiene and medical microbiology can be traced back to the 19th century and are tied to Robert Koch, Louis Pasteur and Max von Pettenkofer. The joint conference aims at setting an example for their mutual work over the past 25 years, the still growing impact and the prospective development of this discipline.
Hannover will set the frame for the 3rd Joint Conference of the DGHM
and the VAAM in 2010. Letâs discuss and evaluate the following topics:
⢠Antimicrobial Compounds
⢠Functional Genomics
⢠Gene Regulation
⢠Hospital Hygiene
⢠Host Microbe Interaction
⢠Infection and Cancer
⢠Innate Immunity
⢠Metabolism
⢠MRSA
⢠Tuberculosis
